Are you Committing Crimes Against Your Skin?

Numerous people watch TV infomercials, and then hurry out to go shopping for the newest skincare treatment, which they saw was guaranteed to get their skin back to being soft as a baby’s. The thing is though we don’t check into how well it works or not.

You should not always believe what is stated in commercials. They are trying to sell you a product and so will of course paint it in the best possible light. A lot of the skin products and cosmetics that are sold today have dangerous chemicals or toxins that could potentially harm you.

Truthfully, we have come a long way since the days when women used products containing formaldehyde, copper, white lead, mercury, arsenic, and sulphur to achieve the desired look. Unfortunately, back then it often led to disfigurement and occasionally blindness. But even today, it’s alarming to see the lengths to which women will go in the name of beauty.

On top of using cosmetic and skincare products that are toxic to us, we also commit another crime by exposing our skin to way too much of the sun’s rays. Somehow we have come to believe that being tanned is more attractive than not being tanned. We are obsessed with this with any of us choosing to get a tan either tan out in the sun, or through the use of tanning beds. Either one can be quite dangerous to your skin.

Smoking is also a criminal attack on your skin. It dries out the skin and creates deep wrinkles and lines in the face. Smoking is very damaging to your health. Since the skin is the largest organ in the body, it stands to reason that an unhealthy body will result in unhealthy skin.

In what way can we remedy these crimes we commit? You need to first learn which ingredients can do your skin harm and which ones will improve your skin. A large portion of the chemicals we apply to our skin absorb through it and enter our bloodstreams. Do you really want stuff like that in your blood? The worse part is that these chemicals don’t leave our bodies easily and can hang around for years to come.

Skincare products made with organic ingredients are the safest way to go. Search for the products that contain 100% natural ingredients. The main ingredients are usually listed in the first 4 or 5 ingredients on the list. So use products that have organic or natural ingredients in their mixtures. Stay away from the ones that have chemical compound names that you can hardly pronounce. You could also choose to support the companies that avoid animal testing, or who use very little heat in processing their products. This technique keeps more of the natural nutrients in products. Be sure that the products you use are guaranteed by an upstanding company.

To keep your skin vibrant and healthy, you have to have a quality skincare routine. Know what kind of skin you have first. Are you suffering with acne, eczema, skin allergies, or rosacea? This will determine which products you should and should not use. Remember to use natural products especially on irritated skin. These will be the kindest to it. Natural products offer the added bonus of being less likely to cause an allergic reaction. So do your cleansing, toning, and moisturizing twice a day, and exfoliate your skin about once a week to keep your skin looking healthy and vibrant.
