When I was a kid, I always wanted to go on ghost tours, but my parents would not let me. They were very religious, and believed that ghost hauntings were satanic. In their world view, going on a ghost tour is just asking for trouble from the devil. They would rather avoid it altogether.

When I had kids of my own, however, I decided that they would never have to sneak around to enjoy their taste for the morbid and frightening. All kids like scary stories, ghost tours, and that sort of thing. Everyone likes to be scared a little bit. Not only does it help us deal with death, but it also satisfies our natural desire for adrenaline rushes. Not only that, but ghost stories are good stories. That is why so many of them are classics that survived generation after generation.

After we started going on ghost tours, he did have a few nightmares, but he insisted he really enjoyed seeing scary things anyway. The New York City ghost tour one was pretty good, but I think the best one ever one to is actually in Portland Oregon. There was a Shanghai tunnels tour which took you under the city. There are quite a few tunnels that they used to use to Shanghai sailors more than a century ago. The tunnels are still there, and many of them are said to be haunted. I have to admit that I felt a chill or two and thought I heard some strange sounds at one point. I will never be sure, but at the time I was sure of it. Ghost tours have a way of messing with your mind.
