Article-1 Part-1 We define snoring as the noise produced when someone breathes during his or her sleep. This breathing creates the vibration in the soft palate and the uvula. These vibrations that create a sound as the tissues contact one another in the back of the throat and the nose. The uvula at the back of your throat, the soft palate as well as your adenoids and tonsils are found to be responsible in the noise making action.

Age may contribute to the problem of a narrowing of air passages, which make snoring more likely. This also explains why many women who were sleeping quietly over the years find themselves snoring after menopause.

Smoking may cause snoring as muscles relaxes when you smoke.Inhaling smoke can bring congestion to the lungs and nose therefore spurs snoring. . Enlarged tonsils or adenoids can cause obstructions of the airway and lead to more vibrations and more snoring. This happens when there is infection, such as tonsillitis or person with enlarged adenoids or tonsils.Alcohol intake and some types of medication contribute to snoring

Sleeping position may play a role in snoring.Sleeping on your side with a pillow to make you more comfortable is a must.Your throat?s flesh may relax and block your airway when you are sleeping on your back.

Snoring affect people from all age group.however men is more prone to the condition. Snoring is not as serious as the other medical conditions, but attention must be given,it can be emotionally and socially disturbing. Snoring takes place when there are obstructions that affect the flow of air through the mouth and nose during sleep. The sound produced is due to the vibration of the throat muscles ,the air passageway is blocked. The obstruction is observed in the nasal passages. Any blockage in these passages causes difficulty in breathing and as a result the soft tissues of the throat may collapse and causes snoring. People with sinus infections and colds, are reported to be snorers. People with relaxed or soft throat muscles collapse easily. The air passageway narrows, resulting to the unusual sound produced. People with bulky throat muscles are more prone to snoring ,air passageway is narrower than the,?opening from the nose going to the throat. A long palate or long uvula narrows down the opening and the tissues and muscles are situated closely to each other during breathing.
