Thermal Engineering Corporation (TEC) has been in business over 40 years working in the field of infrared radiant energy. Back in 1961, they came up with a ceramic infrared burner that was highly efficient. This innovation has made them the defacto infrared experts worldwide.

TEC stays busy with R&D and they have over 30 patents to prove it. They are always on the leading edge, having produced the first gas grill eith a concealed tank in 1980, and the also invented the first infrared grill. TEC was also the inventor of a glass infrared cooking system, the first all metal flare-resistant infrared grill and also the first portable infrared grill system.

With infrared technology, grills are able to heat up faster, cook evenly across the cooking surfaces, and use less fuel. Radiant energy ” that which is produced by infrared ” does not need to transfer heat through any medium, but rather produces its heat by exciting (moving) the molecules themselves within the food. Think, for instance, of rubbing your two hands together. As you rub them together, heat is produced; this is similar to how the electronic molecules within foodstuffs are exciting when heated with radiant energy.

TEC has won numerous awards for their technological advances in the grilling field. In 2005, they won the “Hearth and Home Magazine” Vesta Award for Best New Barbecue and Best In Show for New Outdoor Room Products. In 2006, TEC won the “Kitchen Innovations” award from the National Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show with the TEC Searmaster II Infrared Charbroiler. 2006 brought them the GFEN “Blue Flame” Product of the year Award. In 2006 they were nominated by the International Academy of Science for Outstanding Technology of the Year Award for its G400FR model.

TEC infrared grills have many advantages over the competition. First, it uses 100% stainless steel burners which ensures that they can handle the heat over time. TEC varies the size and shape it’s apertures to evenly distribute the heat; and when I see even, the variance is never more than 5%.

Flare proof resistance is brought to the consumer by the metal burner. This burner operates with 100% primary air. Without a secondary source, there are no flare-ups.

TEC grills have a wide operating range. Temperatures can be tightly controlled from 300F to 900F. This is achieved while also using 50% less fuel than most grills.

The TEC Searmaster II offers a great return on investments with savings through gas, labor, and food cost while producing delectable meals. Even if you choose ‘well done” for your steak, the food will still be juicy, with less than 30% shrinkage. This model is practically maintenance free.

Several models in the Sterling Series are great for your outdoor kitchen as well. These are made with varying gauges of 304 stainless and come with a lifetime warranty. These grills are not going to rust and you probably can’t put many dings in them either.

TEC grills can be found worldwide at outlets like True Value Hardware, ACE Hardware, Lehrer and Ferrelgas.
