With two airports to pick from in Tenerife, one in the south of the island and the other in the north the airport you pick to fly into will be driven by the area or resort on the island you have decided to stay in.
Most Tenerife flights from the UK fly into Tenerife Sur Reina Sofia Airport in the south of the island. If you wish to travel to the north of the island you would select Tenerife Norte airport.
For the more popular resorts in Tenerife such as Playa de Las Americas or Los Cristianos you should be looking for Tenerife flights that fly into the airport in the south of the island. Puerto de Las Cruz is the most popular destination in the north and obviously is would be better to fly into Tenerife Norte airport.
The south of Tenerife is much more commercialised and has lots of bars, restaurants and nightlife especially in parts of Playa de Las Americas. The north of the island in Puerto de La Cruz attracts a more mature guest. The weather in the north can also be a bit more changeable and can become cloudy. This has resulted in the popularity of the south of the island to attract the sun worshipers from all over the UK and Europe.
The best beaches are in the south of the island which is why more families tend to holiday in the south of Tenerife. There is even a man made beach in the south built with sand imported from the Sahara. Flying times for Tenerife flights from the UK vary from around four hours to just over five hours depending on from which airport in the UK you are flying from. Obviously the further north you are flying from the longer the flight will be.
Your chosen destination in Tenerife will also depend on the availability of flights from your local airport or the airport you wish to fly from. There are considerably less flights travelling to the north of the island from the UK as against the number you will find from most regional airports to the south of the island.
Whatever part of the island you choose there is plenty of accommodation to choose from including villas, self catering apartments and hotels ranging from budget two star properties to the more luxurious five star hotels.
